Pantonix, with the active ingredient Pantoprazole Sodium, is a trusted proton pump inhibitor (PPI) designed for acid reflux treatment and suppression of gastric acid production. Pantoprazole works by irreversibly binding to the H+/K+ATPase enzyme system on the gastric parietal cell surface, inhibiting both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion for over 24 hours, regardless of the stimulus. This makes it an ideal medication for managing peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), NSAID-induced ulcers, Helicobacter pylori eradication (in combination with antibiotics), and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.
Pantoprazole Dosage:
- Benign Gastric Ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks; continue for another 4 weeks if not fully healed.
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): 20-40 mg daily in the morning for 4 weeks, extending to 8 weeks if needed; maintenance dose is 20 mg daily, adjustable to 40 mg for GERD relief.
- Duodenal Ulcer: 40 mg daily in the morning for 2 weeks; extend for 2 more weeks if healing is incomplete.
- Duodenal Ulcer with Helicobacter pylori: 40 mg twice daily, paired with antibiotics (e.g., Amoxicillin 1 g and Clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily for 7 days, or Clarithromycin 250 mg and Metronidazole 400 mg twice daily for 7 days) for effective H. pylori treatment.
- NSAID-Induced Ulcer Prevention: 20 mg daily for long-term NSAID users.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Start with 80 mg once daily, adjusted based on response (max 40 mg daily for elderly); doses above 80 mg split into two daily administrations.
Drug Interactions: No significant Pantoprazole drug interactions observed in clinical studies.
Contraindications: Avoid in patients with hypersensitivity to Pantoprazole or its components.

- IV Infusion: Reconstitute with 10 ml 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, then dilute to 100 ml with 0.9% Sodium Chloride, 5% Dextrose, or Lactated Ringer’s Injection. Administer over 15 minutes. Store reconstituted solution for up to 4 hours and admixed solution for up to 24 hours at room temperature (up to 30°C).
Storage Conditions: Store in a dry place, away from light and heat. Keep out of children’s reach.
